THE OWNER & LEAD FLORAL DESIGNER OF CACTUS & PALM
Looking back, I know that my journey into floral design began as a child growing up in Ohio. Art was my favorite subject and my mother always encouraged me to draw, make crafts, sing, work in the garden, dance, anything to get the creative juices flowing! I learned that my great-grandmother had a floral shop in my home town and her son (my great-uncle) followed her footsteps in floral design - it’s in my DNA! I truly believe that there is a special mid-west work ethic instilled in me. That is what helped create my great-grandmother’s business, and that same spark follows me today.
Cactus & Palm is the culmination of a long journey that began over a decade ago with my late husband Johnny - a true renaissance man. Among other things, he worked as a floral designer in NYC when he was a young man - he taught me everything he knew and I couldn’t get enough!

Ultra luxury weddings have always enthralled me and I feel this is my calling. Whether over-the-top or subtle elegance - I love all of it! Being surrounded by gorgeous flowers & impeccable details makes my soul happy. I particularly love the tiny elements that really take an event to the next level like that one piece of an unusual foliage that completes a centerpiece.
In my personal life, I love a great spa with a lavender & eucalyptus aromatherapy experience. I am a white wine or cosmo kind of gal, but a great vintage port will never be turned down - along with a cheese board please! My favorite TV would have to be shows like Project Runway, Top Chef, and Face Off since as a pre-teen, I aspired to be a makeup artist for movies and TV. I can’t get enough of 80’s movies and travel to the East Coast every year to see a charity concert by Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty. I cannot help but notice beautiful naturally growing flowers, bushes, and trees anywhere I go - my phone is full of thousands of photos to prove it. A few favorite flowers are two-tone blue delphinium, hyacinth, pink peonies, distant drums garden roses, hibiscus, and wisteria. I have a wanderlust spirit and can’t get enough of tropical vacation spots like Hawaii, and I love drives up the picturesque California coast - especially to places like Big Sur and Carmel. But I also adore the architecture and culture of the hidden back alleys of Europe. (Yes, Rick Steves is my travel crush!)
All of the interests and experiences I have encountered throughout my life have influenced my designs and attention to detail.
